By mid-month, the green calendar pieces on the weekdays and the yellow pieces on the weekends will be more noticeable. It’s a good time to practice saying the days of the week in order and to ask children to talk about what they see. Some may point out the yellow circles on the ends of each week. Some may know these are Saturday and Sunday or “stay-home days”. Others may mention the green circles on Monday through Friday.

It is also a good time to ask children to predict the number and color of tomorrow’s calendar piece, based on what they have noticed so far. You might also predict the color of a piece appearing on a future date, such as an upcoming birthday.
