Grade 3: EDC Calendar – End of October

During the last week of the month some teachers write “What Do You See?” on chart paper and list the observations. If you post the chart with a copy of the calendar in the hallway, students from other classes may also be drawn into the search.

What Do You See?

1. All the even numbers have a dot. (Maile)

2. The green circles go 5, 10, 15, 20, __ (Alana)

3. 10, 20, and 30 are both 2’s and 5’s (Lewis)

4. The orange triangles go 1, 3, 6, 8, 11, 13, 16, 18 . . . It’s a +2, +3 pattern. (Jake)

5. It’s an ABABC pattern. (Emma)

6. The diagonal of dots, starting on 6, goes down adding six each time. The other diagonals to the left show a +6 pattern, too. (Vinh)

7. All the orange equilateral triangles have three congruent or equal sides. (Mikela)
