By mid-month many patterns are appearing. It’s a great time to ask students to describe the patterns they are noticing. It is also a good time to ask children to predict the color and shape of a calendar piece appearing on a future date, such as an upcoming birthday.

The fun is in listening to the different strategies children use to get their answers.
