By midmonth many patterns are appearing. It’s a great time to ask students to describe the color, shape, and number patterns they notice in their own words.

It is also a good time to ask the class to use the patterns they have noticed to predict what a piece appearing on a future date will look like. It is fun to hear students explain the reasoning behind their predictions. You may want to assess individual students to see if they can explain what makes an even number even and an odd number odd. Encourage children to use the yellow dots to practice counting by 3’s.
