Grade 3: EDC Coin Counter – Middle of November – Day of School 50

On Day 50 you may choose whether to keep going with quarters or whether to trade for the half dollar, (although we rarely see one today). From Day 50 forward, once or twice a week students get to draw a Shopper Card and determine which coins to use to make the purchase and the correct change.

If an item is drawn that costs more than the amount in the Counter, ask the class to try counting up from the amount of purchase to mentally compute how much more money would be needed to make the purchase.
