The last week of the month the class will have fun using Number Builder to play the memory game, Make a Match. Volunteers take turns turning over two cards hoping to find cards that add up to “make a match” for the sum of 6. When a match is made the two cards are placed together to form a domino and the combination is recorded in an addition sentence. When the cards are not a match for 6, they are turned back over before the next volunteer takes a turn.

All of the matches need not be made during one Discussion. See page 38 for directions for a similar partner game, Make the Sum, which can be shared with families to play at home, beginning with the target sum of 6.
